Watch Time: 47 mins.
As the field of physical therapy is evolving, so too is the curriculum within physical therapy programs. Educational institutions are integrating new educational material to reflect current, evidence based treatment trends. From learning updated treatment principles and techniques, to getting hands-on experience with modern modalities, physical therapy students are being exposed to many exciting new therapeutic possibilities – including laser therapy.
In this webinar, hear from 2 faculty members from the School of Physical Therapy at Belmont University, Ryan McConnell, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT and Kevin Robinson, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, regarding how they are introducing students to laser therapy and empowering them to successfully use this modality when treating patients. Addressing the common resistance and general confusion around modality use, they point to the mounting evidence surrounding laser therapy and discuss why it warrants inclusion into the curriculum.
Key Talking Points Include:
- Current view of modality use in physical therapy
- Modifying modality courses to meet changing evidence-based practice guidelines
- Experience with laser therapy - in the clinic and the classroom
